Echoes of American Carnage
Fractures first documented during the 2020 election have deepened through the 2024 cycle, the inauguration of President Trump, and beyond. Through stark visual storytelling, the project confronts the fragility of American democracy, the evolution of public trust, and the enduring polarization reshaping the nation.
Project Summary
An ongoing documentary photography project, Echoes of American Carnage, is a follow-up to my previous project and subsequent book, This American Carnage. This new work examines the turbulent political landscape of the United States during the 2024 election cycle, the inauguration of President Trump and beyond, drawing profound connections to the election violence and turmoil of 2020. By exploring the cyclical nature of political unrest, the project addresses critical issues such as the fragility of democratic institutions, the evolution of public trust, and the cultural manifestations of polarization. It provides a unique visual commentary on how the fractures documented in 2020 continue to shape the nation today. This subject is of paramount importance as it sheds light on the ongoing struggles of a divided nation, highlighting both the threats to democracy and the resilience of its citizens.
